SOME FACTS ABOUT LIVING IN SINGAPORE

We are a research group located in the tropics, sunshine and blue sky is typical of the weather throughout the year with occasional showers/rains and seasonal monsoon. There are a number of tourist spots in our country as well as in our neighboring countries like Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. Press click the links below to find out some of them.

The cost of living is generally lower than many developed countries.  For example, for S$1200-1400 per month, you can rent an apartment of 2-3 rooms (about 1200 sq. ft.) for a family.  Single room rent is about S$400 per month depending on the location.  An average casual meal at our “hawker centres” or “food courts” cost about S$4 – S$6.  There is a modern MRT (Mass Rapid Transport) system, and a very efficient Bus Service that can carry you to many places around the island, which is about 45km across and 30km broad.  The fares are reasonable, with the maximum at S$2.6 per trip.
